Our Neighborhoods
As the “Neighborhood Candidate,” I will make sure our neighborhoods have the strongest voice on City Council. As a former neighborhood president, I understand that neighborhoods should drive decisions made at City Hall. After talking to our neighbors, here are some issues that come to mind that we can all work toward:
- Making sure our neighborhoods are safe by slowing cars down, creating safe crosswalks for our children, investing in more sidewalks, and supporting law enforcement.
- Keeping neighborhoods beautiful and clean by supporting community parks, green spaces, trees and community centers; fighting commercial creep; and, re-instituting a glass recycling program.
City Growth
We must manage growth in a way that strengthens our quality of life. With Greenville on every “Best City” list throughout the world, now more than ever before, our city needs leaders with the vision and determination to help us plan smartly and execute wisely to ensure that we grow “Uniquely Greenville.”
We must make smart decisions about growth. We must deliberately think before adding more apartments downtown; we must address traffic issues, enhance our commercial corridors, stop commercial creep into our neighborhoods, support affordable housing solutions and adequately fund Greenlink.
A Strong Economy
I have spent my professional life advocating for good jobs and small businesses. As such, I understand the role local government can play in creating the right environment to promote a strong economy. As a member of City Council, I will support small and locally-owned businesses, be a strong voice for entrepreneurship and innovation, and work to recruit professional jobs to Greenville.
